Fertility treatment 'works for most

Nearly three out of four couples that begin fertility treatment will eventually become parents, long-term studies suggest.
The analysis of nearly 20,000 Danish couples found 65% had children within three years and 71% within five years.
Doctors, presenting their data at a fertility conference, said the odds were heavily influenced by age.
But experts said the findings were very encouraging for couples struggling to have babies.
There is strong evidence that about one in three cycles of IVF is successful in women under the age of 35.
But what happens in the long run, when some couples try over and over again, others give up and some have problems that cannot be treated, has been uncertain.
Researchers at the Copenhagen University Hospital used rigorous registry records in Denmark to follow 19,884 women from the moment they started fertility treatment.
The results, presented at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, showed that more than half had given birth within two years, rising to 71% after five years.
For women under 35, 80% had children within five years. But the figure fell to 61% in those between 35 and 40 years old; and fell again to 26% in women over 40.

'Very good chance'

Dr Sara Malchau, one of the researchers, told the BBC News website: "There is a very good chance of having a child, even if you have difficulties conceiving on your own.
"Most causes of infertility can be overcome, but age is the most important factor to predict if treatments are going to be successful or not.
"Also women with a body mass index under 30 had better outcomes as well as women who didn't smoke."
The study also found that nearly a fifth of the women under 35 ended up conceiving as a result of sex - despite having sought fertility treatment.
However, Dr Malchau cautioned Denmark prioritized fertility treatments that made.

  1. IVF treatment generally has positive success rates, especially for women under 35. However, like any medical procedure or medications, infertility treatments can have side effects caused by the process itself, along with medications used. IVF treatment side effects can often include:
Cramping and abdominal pain: Period-like cramps are common during the IVF process, along with minor abdominal pain that feels similar to your menstrual cycle. You can combat general cramps with over-the-counter pain relievers or a heat pad to reduce discomfort.
Bloating: Fertility medications can heavily impact how your body retains water, leading to the dreaded side effect of bloating. This is especially common in your midsection, where fluid can build up near the ovaries (creating abdominal tenderness, too). You can combat bloating by increasing your fluid intake, and participating in light exercise such as walking.
Breast tenderness: Tenderness is often felt throughout your menstrual cycle, and can be amplified by IVF medications. You can help ease this discomfort by using warm or cold compresses on your breasts (whichever feels best) or by taking a warm or cool shower. Wearing a supportive but non-restricting bra can also help.
Constipation: Constipation is an unfortunate side effect that can be remedied by eating more fiber, increasing your water intake, and avoiding dehydrating beverages such as coffee and soda.
Headaches and mood swings: Headaches and mood swings are common IVF treatment side effects. Over-the-counter medications can ease headaches, and while no medication can help with mood swings, knowing that they’re a normal part of IVF treatment helps. If you find mood swings are disrupting your day, be sure to seek out self-care practices such as enjoying alone time, reading a book, taking a nice bath, or sharing feelings with a friend or loved one.
Hot flashes: If you suddenly feel very warm, have a flushed face, or find yourself randomly sweating, you may be experiencing a hot flash. They can appear at random during the IVF treatment process, but you can help prevent them by reducing stress, avoiding spicy foods and warm environments, and cutting back on alcohol or caffeine intake.
Anyway, a reputable repro center will let you know all those things before you actually start treatments with them for you to get the best prepared.

  2. Each woman is born with a finite number of eggs. With age, both the number and quality of these eggs decreases. Obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes can further impede your ability to get pregnant. These issues can increase the risk of miscarriage. They can cause complications during the pregnancy itself. Staying healthy is important to maximize your chances of conceiving and help you have a healthier pregnancy. But diet and exercise alone cannot fully overcome the effects of aging on the ovary. You may be wondering if these numbers are all doom and gloom. Why does it seem like there are so many fabulous forty-somethings with babies at the playground? While a ten percent chance per year of conceiving seems low, there is a significant portion of the population in their forties. So there are still a lot of women getting pregnant and having normal healthy pregnancies in their forties. Another consideration is that a majority of women undergoing fertility treatments over the age of 40 use eggs from egg donors. All the fertility and complication rates are tied to the age of the eggs. So if younger eggs were used then odds of healthy pregnancy go up significantly. This is performed through IVF. And it can be an expensive and exhausting process for some..Unfortunately this cannot be ruled..

  4. Also their new unique method of mitochondrial donation##
    https://biotexcom.com/a-unique-method-to-get-pregnant-in-your-40s-with-your-own-eggs/.
BioTexCom Center for Human Reproduction offers patients who are above 40 and for those, who suffer from low levels of AMH, an innovative program that makes it possible to get pregnant with their own eggs. Mitochondria replacement therapy is an innovation and a breakthrough in the field of ART and the fertility treatment. This program gives women, who underwent numerous unsuccessful IVF cycles, aged 40+, patients with low mitochondrial functional activity, an excellent chance to give birth to a child who shares a genetic relationship with her and her partner. Mitochondrion is one of the most important components of any living cell, including the egg. In simple words, mitochondrion is the cell’s energy station. Essentially, its work consists in supplying the cell with vital energy for its normal functioning. Women that went through multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts, as well as of older reproductive age, need to restore oocyte mitochondria in order to successfully become pregnant. A woman can become pregnant only if there are functionally active mitochondria in her oocytes. Donation of mitochondria will allow thousands of hopeless women to give birth to a healthy child through IVF using mitochondrial donation. To carry out such a procedure, an egg donor with a high functional activity of mitochondria, a patient, and sperm for in vitro fertilization are required. Healthy functionally active mitochondria are taken from a donor’s oocyte and integrated with the patient’s cells. Next, fertilization with sperm and transfer of a healthy embryo into the patient’s uterus is performed. Mitochondria donation is a unique assistive reproductive technology, which is basically the implantation of a healthy and functionally active donor mitochondria into the cells of an infertile patient, that provides the patient’s cell with the necessary energy and contributes to successful pregnancy.

  5. I guess..This is just the time to vent. Sorry for the TMI in advance, but those are purely the thoughts from the past. At the very beginning of our infertility journey together with dh we have an incredibly loving home. We had a long happy relationship together and knew we had so much to give. I saw happy families created this way. I saw beautiful children brought to life.  A good friend had a DE baby that I adored.  There love for her ran so deep. They were excellent parents and their home was full of love and joy. I saw the stories of beautiful DE families and my heart felt warm. I wanted that too.  However, even seeing and feeling that, the thought of going there still traumatized me. The pain was unbearable.
I also worried about the ramifications of being donor conceived.  The internet was full of stories of people who were very troubled by being brought to life this way.  So many tales of bewilderment and yearning of having the other bio parent in their life.  dh and others reassured me that the happy individuals were out there and they were not spending time talking about their stories on the web, rather were going about their lives.  I wanted to believe this, but I worried. I particularly worried that my own trauma,  that my own issue of my DH having a child that is half his and half someone else's,  my inability to deal with my own infertility would lead to one of the countless donor conceived people which was hurting.  I wanted a family so badly, however I worried I would displace my own pain on someone else.  I never wanted to do something that would lead to the hurt of a child.
Though in a time flow the situation turned out to be even worse. They told us I wasn't meant to conceive and carry pregnancy at all. That was some sort of a feeling I can't describe. I was devastated, broken, drained.. whatever sort of hassle which could happen to a lady desperate for her baby..Before I was diagnosed with this we spent a fortune for numerous IUIs which failed evidentaly. Another ivf with own egg round was called of due to some additive test. That very one actually showed us the state of things.
Our journey ended at Biotexcom where we passed de surrogacy program. This amazing place gave us our well-deserved twins who'll always be the evidence that everything is possible!

  6. I'll always vote FOR surrogacy. We've got our beautiful twins through this procedure and became the happiest ones in entire world!
Banning surrogacy seems to prevent a slew of legal, emotional, and cultural issues. However, there will always be families hoping to grow with no other options, surrogacy is then driven underground. In some countries, surrogacy is an unchecked and dangerous practice. In Ukraine surrogacy is a properly regulated service.
Surrogacy laws here seem even more favourable for intended parents then for surrogates. Many countries banning surrogacy start with the belief that it takes advantage of poor, needy women. The concept of surrogacy compensation being exploitative ignores the financial stability offered many of the surrogate mothers post-pregnancy. In some countries, a single surrogate pregnancy can provide the mother a life changing sum of money. I believe that the money given a surrogate can keep her family supported and prevent more drastic and illegal measures, such as prostitution. Frequently there is concern that the surrogate mother will bond with the child and be unable to give it up when the baby is born. But this is impossible due to Ukrainian legislation. Once a baby is conceived it realtes to intended parents only! This was the hugest factor for us whilst seeking the clinic/country where to pass surrogacy treatment. With Ukrainian Biotexcom we were sure to avoid any sort of the hassle!
On the whole, surrogates and intended parents have the opportunity to change each other’s lives. The surrogate carrier gains financial stability and the new parents are given the child they’ve been dreaming of. Ukrainian qualified surrogacy centers are equipped to handle these issues as well as ensure well being for all parties involved. In many cases, countries banning surrogacy drives the practice underground, which only complicates matters further.
I wanted a fullfilled family so badly. 7. Here's my story. After years of unsuccessful ttc we passed testings and had five IUI's resulting in failure. Further testing done and the following year I found out that I have low egg count. Dh's sperm dna analysis indicated he has no drills in his sperm. This way we got two huge issues and explanations why no luck conceiving naturally.
Then we started first ivf and got some good news. I had four follies on the right and three follies on the left. I started meds. Clinic told that if less than five are 1.2 cm that they would want to cancel the cycle. Actually they did as they failed to grow to needed size. Our next cycle harvested one embie only but it failed to implant. I was heartbroken. They told us we'd better turn to donor's egg for higher success rates. This step was the final one with the clinic, so we felt we had to switch somewhere else for more affordable prices as we'd paid out of the pocket by that moment we couldn't afford more ivf cycles that way adding donor egg. We did a big research on the internet leading us to Biotexcom, Ukraine. We did hesitate first as it was going to be quite far from home and family's support but headed off as we could apply for 5 shots for 9900 euro only with guaranteed life birth. In case we fail they were to refund 100% money paid back! Which was a huge luck to have as we were safe of money loss and could spend it on following treatments in case. So this was a fresh breath for both of us. We were excited and nervous at the same time to start our program not knowing then it would bring us our lovely Andy girl. I know we want more kids. Probably we'll go the same path once more, not sure still. I mean not sure as for the time frames..But I know I wouldn't freeze my eggs for future even if I could. Moreover for the purpose of finding the best match – sounds weird for my ear. All things on time. If you feel you are ready to have kids or to give kids to your partner now, then do it. One should not wait to make sure he's the best one in entire world as it's simply impossible to predict. So I wouldn't count on that anyway. And even if it turns out to be assisted conception options for us – we are just lucky to have hope.

  8. From a potential Intended parents perspective, the internet can be very misleading, due to these reasons. I think it is important to read information found on these types of sites with a pinch of salt, and try to connect with people and delve deeper. For anyone who is considering surrogacy, speak to experiences intended parents. Make sure you ask absolutely every question you can think of. Its important to go by instinct as well as reviews. Always look at legal aspects that may affect you. Try to speak to a lawyer in your own country to make sure there will be no immigration issues that affect you.
