In the BioTexCom center you will surely find happiness of motherhood and fatherhood, save your money and receive services and medical care of the high level. Besides, you have a great opportunity to get to know better one of the most beautiful European capitals, Kiev.

New York Times publication recognized Kiev as one of the most beautiful and the most active European cities of the 21st century. “After seven decades of Soviet dominance, Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, has emerged as one of Europe’s most vibrant 21st-century cities. With a thriving contemporary art scene, a new generation of chefs taking innovative approaches to Ukrainian cuisine, and a delirious dance-till-dawn night life, Kiev was a co-host of the 2012 European Soccer Championship 2012. But new cuisine and clubs are only the latest cultural attributes of a city that has more than its share of ancient catacombs, churches and monuments. Don’t let Kiev’s reputation as “the birthplace of the Slavs” conjure up stereotypes of Slavic dourness. For starters, the city looks as if it was painted like a Ukrainian Easter egg, with brightly colored buildings and gold domes glittering on the hills above the Dnieper River. And then there are the Kievans themselves - a resilient lot whose hearty sense of humor and a seemingly boundless hunger for fun are reflected in the city’s bustling cafes, thronged beaches and bars that never close” (The New York Times, 36 Hours in Kiev, Ukraine).

BioTexCom managers are always ready to organize your leisure time in Kiev. Interesting excursion tours, unforgettable city walks and tasty dishes in the local restaurants and pubs. Thus, you will be able to take your mind off alarm thoughts associated with the upcoming procedure and tune into a positive, calm mood, which is extremely important element of the success!

Surrogacy and Egg Donation. Why Ukraine?

By choosing Ukraine as destination country for your egg donation or surrogacy program you take an important step and you need to be sure you are making the right decision. Ukraine is a European country. This is true not only when you think of geographical position and comfortable travel options and local navigation, but what is most important the mentality of people is very similar and easily understandable for most of European and American patients, let alone the couples coming from CIS countries. You will be given clear answers to your questions, fast feedback on all your enquiries and very transparent payments schedule with no hidden costs. Above all, you will have access to all the medical documents related to your program.

Entering Ukraine does not require visa for EU countries, Americas and Canada, most of CIS and Scandinavian countries. Ukrainian legislation concerning reproductive medicine is extremely favorable. Ukrainian legislation is loyal to gestational surrogacy and egg donation, both are legally allowed which is consolidated in the number of legislative acts.

Intended parents are legal parents of their baby born by the surrogate mother. Only names of intended parents are written in the baby birth certificate. Surrogate mother has no right to keep the baby after delivery according to the contract concluded between intended parents and her.
Gender selection is allowed by the law in Ukraine.

Due to the limitations of most of European countries it is very difficult to find European type egg donor who will meet all your requirements and expectations. Ukraine is the country where you can find your type of egg donor, as about 95% of population is European light-skinned type.

Slavic ladies are famous for beautifully regular features and slim complexion, and you will be able to find your dream egg donor with our help. Generally patients prefer to choose good-looking and intelligent egg donor with strong and healthy family roots to ensure good genes for their future babies.

All medical tests, check-ups, preparation and medical procedures are carried out based on private clinics only. Ukraine is the best choice in order to fulfill IVF program, egg donation or surrogacy. You will find here good prices which are chipper than the European ones. Good price, high level of services, professional doctors with solid experience of work and of course beautiful country with welcoming friendly people. Welcome to Ukraine and Ukrainian centers of reproductive medicine.

Surrogate Mother Without Problems

Surrogate mothers like cartoon characters Chip and Dale race to rescue. But not with the aim to save the whole world and only infertile couples. It is a natural desire of any person to have children, and especially if it is a long-established family. Infertility diagnosis does not deprive of this desire. Surrogate mothers are a kind of women who have chosen carrying children for other people as a well-paid job. "Looking for a surrogate mother", "Will become a surrogate mother for you", "Surrogacy with guarantee" etc. Today this procedure is so widespread that you can easily find a great number of information you need in the Internet, mass media, and even on the street advertisement board. But as it happens - the greater demand the lower quality. So how to find a good surrogate mother with whom you will not have problems?

The first and fundamental rule for those who want to use services of surrogate mother is to visit only specialized accredited clinics which operate in accordance with relevant rules and regulations of the country in which they function. But it happens so that infertile couples mistakenly think that they can solve this problem on their own and start looking for surrogate mother with the help of internet resources and various ads (http://mother-surrogate.info/beware-of-cheating/). Just such people are the best targets for swindlers! If you think that you can negotiate with surrogate mother and pay for this service the true price it will not always turn out as you want.

Legal clinics check surrogate mothers in details, in particular their physical and psychological health. Carrying out these procedures by yourself you risk missing out on important medical tests or to be had that the surrogate mother had passed all inspections. She cannot pass them at all or just forge the results. The following aspect is an agreement between all sides (in a perfect world these are clinic, surrogate mother and biological parents). In medical centers professional lawyers constitute an appropriate contract which contains all the obligations and rights of all parties. It is all but impossible to do it without specialist’s participation. Thus, not taking these items into account you become a perfect victim for the fraudulent surrogate mothers.

During pregnancy they can dream up various non-existent problems that will require more money. And after the child’s birth such surrogate mothers may refuse to give the baby until you fulfill all their terms. And these requirements can continue indefinitely while your biological child will grow in someone else's family getting used to other parents. In this case you will not be able to prove your rightness because you have no necessary documents and evidences.

Using the help of a surrogate mother you always have to remember that it is a matter of life and death for you but just a business for some women. And do not think that organizing surrogacy program by yourself you save some money or do it more efficiently. The right and best decision is to choose a clinic with a good reputation and high quality of work. As of quality-price ratio Ukraine, for example, is one of the best countries in which you will find a good service, positive result of the program and an affordable price. In this case, clinic is held fully liable for all stages of the program. Therefore, workers of medical institution are also interested in good result. In addition, going to the center of reproductive medicine you pay a fixed sum and do not run the risk to overpay or pay for nothing, as it happens in the case of an independent search for a surrogate mother.

If you are not a doctor you will not know details of the surrogacy procedure. As a result outside the clinic you can be said that, for example, embryo replanting was made, although in fact it will not be so. Surrogate mother even cannot be pregnant at all, but urging otherwise upon you. In general, as you can see, there are a lot of ways to be hippoed by surrogate mothers. So do not put everything on the line and visit only proven centers of reproductive medicine and do not seek help where there is none of it.

65-Year-Old German Mother Of 13 Expecting Quadruplets

Annegret Raunigk, the oldest lady on the planet at 65 to be expecting quadruplets, has turned into a household name overnight in Germany. The advantages and disadvantages of her pregnancy are being fiercely questioned across the nation on everything from forums online to television talk shows.

Raunigk, a school teacher and a single mom who has 13 kids by five different fathers, the eldest of whom is aged 43, was way past the age limit to be considered for in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment in Germany. Regulations on reproductive medicine are harsher there than in other countries, including a ban on egg donation and a restriction on the number of eggs that can be implanted. There is a definite tension to anything related with the manipulation of embryos, partly because of the utilization of eugenics during the Nazi period.

The criteria for who is considered eligible for IVF are also strictly controlled and so thousands of Germans travel abroad every year for fertility treatment. The government does not prohibit its citizens from doing so.

Raunigk had made consultations for 18 months to a clinic in Kiev, Ukraine, where she underwent intensive sperm-and-egg implantations costing an estimated £15,000 ($22,400). Contrary to the doctor's expectations, all four of the eggs developed into embryos.

Raunigk said she had made her decision after her youngest daughter, Lelia, 9, requested for a sibling.

Medical specialists and lawmakers assailed the German woman who is expecting the quads in eight weeks' time, calling her decision inadvisable and irresponsible, and warned other women against following her example.

As of the moment Raunigk's situation has attracted overwhelmingly negative feedbacks with just a couple of voices of support.

Doctors said that aside from the ethical issues, there is also about considerable health risks to both the mother and her babies.

Raunigk's quadruplets are due in August 2015, just as she approach her retirement age. But on her case, it is much more likely the babies will be born earlier, probably by caesarian section. On average, triplets and quadruplets are born around 11 weeks early.

She informed Bild am Sonntag she had initially reflected on giving up couple of the babies for adoption, before deciding to keep them all, citing the huge effort it had taken to get pregnant in the first place.

The tabloid newspaper Bild and the German television channel RTL have bought the exclusive rights to the story of the English and Russian primary school teacher, and will follow her pregnancy and birth.

TV presenter Sally Obermeder exploring surrogacy to have another baby after breast cancer battle

THERE are not many women game enough to pose in their swimsuit for a newspaper, and even fewer who have had the health struggles of Sally Obermeder.

But the 41-year-old TV presenter is feeling so fit and fabulous she was happy to strip down to her cossie for The Sunday Telegraph.

“I feel the healthiest and best I’ve ever felt in my life,” she said.

Four years ago Obermeder was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, the same month she gave birth to daughter Annabelle.

“I was ravaged from the inside out. My energy levels were low, my skin looked sick, my nails had fallen off. I really wanted to feel whole again,” she said.

After getting the all-clear in 2012 she discovered a simple way to drop the 15kg she’d put on through her treatment and feel better at the same time.

The answer came in green vegie smoothies.

She started drinking two a day and noticed the difference immediately: “It blew my mind.’’

She has written a book, Super Green Smoothies, with her sister Masha Koraiem.

With daughter Annabelle now three-and-a-half, the Daily Edition host said she would love to have more children but doctors have warned her it’s too risky.

The only option left for her and husband Marcus is to find a surrogate and use their frozen embryos.

“We’re talking to some people and trying to work out what we can do,” she says.

Why Israeli couples have surrogate pregnancies in Nepal

While Israel mobilizes to aid victims of Nepal’s earthquake and locate missing citizens, the Jewish state is paying special attention to the safety of 26 Israeli babies born of surrogate mothers in Nepal.
Hundreds of Israeli couples choose surrogate pregnancy — where a couple’s embryo is implanted in another woman, who carries the pregnancy to term.

Here’s why Israelis opt for surrogate pregnancies, and why so many choose surrogate mothers in places like Nepal.

Why do Israelis choose surrogacy? Doesn’t Israel have pro-natal policies?
Israel encourages couples to have children in a variety of ways. Aside from maternity leave policies that are far more generous than in the United States, the state heavily subsidizes in-vitro fertilization for women who experience difficulty conceiving naturally and preimplantation genetic diagnosis for those who qualify. Since 1996, surrogacy also has been legal in Israel.

Israelis typically choose surrogacy because they cannot carry a baby themselves – either because pregnancy would pose a significant health risk to the mother or if the couple cannot carry a fetus (for example, in the case of male same-sex couples).

“People don’t choose this saying ‘How fun, I won’t have to be pregnant,’” said Mina Ulzary, co-founder of the Center for Surrogacy-Israel. “They choose it after difficult vacillations, both emotional and medical.”

How does surrogacy work in Israel?
Heterosexual Israeli parents who choose surrogate pregnancy either can find an Israeli woman to act as a surrogate or a woman from overseas. Although a bill to allow same-sex couples to have surrogate pregnancies in Israel passed an initial vote in the Knesset last year, it has yet to become law. For now, same-sex Israeli couples must go abroad for surrogacy and are allowed to bring the child back to Israel. The same applies for single parents.

About 270 Israelis choose to have surrogate pregnancies every year, according to Ulzary. Approximately two-thirds of them choose foreign surrogates because the process is cheaper and surrogate mothers are easier to find. Georgia and India are among the more popular countries. Surrogacy in Israel costs approximately $64,000; surrogacy abroad can cost as low as $33,000. Most surrogacy implantations succeed in bringing the babies to term. When they don’t, couples do not pay the full fee.

Merav Levy, director of Israeli Surrogate Motherhood, which encourages surrogacy within Israel, says the Israeli process is safer and more convenient for a couple than traveling to a place like India to retrieve their baby. To bring a baby to Israel from abroad, a mother and father must prove their DNA matches the baby’s and endure a bureaucratic process that can keep them from returning home for up to three weeks after the birth.

Why do some Israelis choose surrogacy in Nepal?
Though the quality of health care in Nepal is seen as second rate, at best, Nepali surrogacy has become a popular choice for Israeli same-sex couples who are barred by local laws from surrogacy in countries with better medical care like India, Georgia and Thailand, Ulzary says. Israeli couples began having surrogate pregnancies in Nepal in 2012, according to Ulzary, who estimates that some 100 couples find surrogate mothers there every year.
What does Jewish law say about surrogacy?

Halachah, or Jewish law, allows surrogacy, and a rabbi is part of the Israeli Health Ministry committee that approves women for surrogate pregnancies. Babies born of surrogacy abroad must undergo a brief conversion process upon arriving in Israel, including immersion in a mikvah, according to Ulzary.

Surrogacy Finds New Business Through Social Media

Beijing: The National Health and Family Planning Commission and other departments have banned fertility clinics from using surrogate mothers. A notice issued in April further prohibits websites from publishing any information about surrogacy and orders the removal and blocking of all related information.

The ban on providing surrogacy information extends to all media, as well as health care workers, nurses and social agencies.

Illegal surrogacy has existed for many years as some couples have sought other options to have a baby. Service centers have given otherwise infertile couples the chance to have a baby while earning large amounts of money. However, surrogacy has been plagued by such problems as sex-selective abortion and surrogate mothers refusing to give up the baby.

In 2001, the government issued a notice that banned surrogacy services in hospitals and health care centers. This year, the National Health and Family Planning Commission and 11 other ministries and commissions said that illegal surrogacy is one of the main problems that need to be solved this year.

But surrogacy services have found a new advertising channel: social media.

According to a Beijing Youth Daily investigation, some surrogacy service centers have Weibo, WeChat and QQ accounts for advertising. Some surrogate mothers also publish the announcements through their own social media accounts.

A surrogacy service center called Feifan Yunyu, which claims to have experience with overseas surrogacy, has a website, WeChat and QQ accounts, phone number and a hotline for customer information. It also published at least one article per day about advances in surrogacy technology and posts articles on subjects such as parenting.

Other official WeChat accounts list VIP services and expenses, successful cases and other detailed information.

Some individuals claiming to provide surrogacy services actually run illegal sex transactions.

A QQ user born in 1996 told a reporter that she provides sexual surrogacy, also known as “cohabitation surrogacy,” in which clients have sex with the surrogate mother. If she becomes pregnant, the client takes her home to protect the infant. When the baby is born, the client also has to take care of the surrogate mother for the first month. Cohabitation surrogacy has few success cases and costs the father at least 300,000 yuan.

According to Beijing Youth Daily reporters, most surrogate mothers come from the countryside. Many of them help friends enter the business as well.

Social media may be the government’s biggest challenge in cracking down on illegal services because accounts can be easily terminated and replaced once the user suspects something is wrong.

There is no absolute infertility! “All good things come to he who waits”

Female, male infertility is a global challenge the whole world has faced with. As of today, more than 20 % of couples all over the world have some problems with impregnation. Hostile environment, harmful products, potato coach lifestyle, bad hobbits are among the main aspects which negatively influence human health, in particular, reproductive function. By reason of a great number of people can not quick with a child naturally a set of complications arises. They are of both personal and social nature. In the matter of the first point, of course, every typical person wishes to have a family and kids. And understanding of the bitter truth that you will never have all these can extremely oppresses.

As a result, a lot of families break up, infertile wife or husband runs into depression and the whole life goes downhill. Speaking about the social (global) side of the issue, infertility causes demographic obstacles. Birth rate falls, number of elderly people rises and as a result it can be seen ageing population. According to experts, demographic situation in most advanced nations is pretty miserable and a low replacement level and population’s senescence can lead to the nation’s degeneration in the nearest future. But science and medicine are not at a standstill.  And today, modern reproductive medical centers offer all who have come across infertility diagnose a set of assisted reproductive technologies, which work wonders.

Ukrainian center of reproductive medicine BioTexCom is a perfect choice to crack the problem of infertility. Here in clinic, subject matter specialists use the latest methods of artificial insemination and fix one of the highest rates of birth. Obstetrician-gynecologists of the BioTexCom center conduct embryo transfer on the fifth day, when it reaches the most appropriate stage of development to carry out a successful fetation. In addition, doctors do not work with congelated embryos; they work only with fresh eggs. In addition, donor’s cells for a certain patient are not divided between some clients. It means that each patient receives his own donor. All these significantly increase chances of positive pregnancy.

BioTexCom medical center has 70% of efficiency. And the greatest pride of center is women who become happy mothers at the age of 40 and even elder. During the last year, about 3 thousand women find happiness of motherhood being over the age of 45 years. It has become possible owing to the IVF procedure in the BioTexCom clinic. And the most famous client of this center is 66 years old woman who arrived to Ukraine from Switzerland, and gave birth to healthy twins. Overall, more than 60% of patients who visit BioTexCom medical center are women after forty who came to the capital of Ukraine from different states of the world.
Managing director of the reproductive medicine center BioTexCom is a German citizen, who has used European experience and introduced the best practices of the infertility treatment in Ukrainian Clinic. Addressing BioTexCom specialists, clients give high rating to European standards of medical treatment and highish plateau of services. Under command of a German specialist, BioTexCom clinic uses the latest methods of assisted technologies to cope with the most hopeless cases of infertility, these are in particular IVF (in vitro fertilization), ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), pre-implantation diagnosis and egg donation.

“There is no absolute infertility!” is the main slogan of the BioTexCom clinic. This medical institution wrings water from a flint in the reproductive field. Stating this, doctors are supported by several facts. Firstly, BioTexCom clinic makes use of only competent infertility treatment that makes pregnancy possible even in case of complicated diagnoses. And secondly, the majority of clients who came to the Ukrainian reproductive medical center have become happy parents and translated their cherished hopes and dreams into reality. At times, obstetrician-gynecologists, embryologists could hardly believe in positive results, but correctly, well-staged treatment has helped some practically hopeless couples to experience parenthood.

BioTexCom reproductive medical center is in the list of top leaders in infertility treatment sphere all over the world. In addition to the highest rate of births Ukrainian reproductive center has something more to write home about. Namely, center works with couples of any age. Nowadays, in comparison with the previous centuries, it’s absolutely unproblematic to give birth after 40, and even 50 years. Due to the brilliant possibilities of assisted reproductive technologies that BioTexCom clinic turns to useful account it has become quite real to achieve desired pregnancy in any age. Such procedures as egg donation and IVF have made it possible to inseminate women of any age. By the way, the lion’s share of clients who address BioTexCom center is women over 45. It can be said with 100 percent certainty that happy tears of parents and words like “Oh, I have never been so happy in my whole life!” is the most valuable reward for the clinic’s staff.

Of course, Ukrainian center BioTexCom is not the only one to treat infertility. So, reasoned question arises, why can you trust just this Ukrainian clinic? We have already mentioned above about high rate of birth and work with all age groups. Meanwhile, legislative aspect of this matter is the most important one. In this part of the issue BioTexCom clinic is highly responsible as well.

In the sphere of reproductive technologies Ukrainian legislators have proven to be far more progressive than many of their European colleagues. Today, Ukraine is one of the very few friendly countries in Europe that provide the full range of procedures in the field of assisted reproductive technologies. Unlike nations that restrict or even put under a ban such kind of actions, Ukrainian legislation permits and regulates all of them. So, it means, that all procedures concerning reproductive medicine are absolutely legal in Ukraine. Moreover, BioTexCom meets all requirements drawing up necessary agreements. In general, it must be said that European clients appreciate value-for-money ratio and favorable set of services that contract includes.

In addition to all advantages one can receive visiting Ukrainian medical center BioTexCom there is one more bargaining chip – tourist attractiveness! Ukraine is a real tourist gem. Holding the final match of the Euro 2012 football championship Ukraine has opened the world all its hospitality, rich history, beautiful architecture and a great number of places that are worth seeing. In a word, choosing BioTexCom clinic to solve your reproductive problems you kill two birds with one stone. In Ukraine, you will be able to see unique objects of interest and leave this state together with your so long-awaited baby.

From year to year, Ukrainian center of reproductive medicine BioTexCom is going strong and develops. Currently, active negotiations on the subject of a new building construction are under way. It is planed to construct a skyscraper in Kyiv downtown.

Nova Scotia couple goes public with search for surrogate mom

A South Shore family is taking the unusual step of going public with their search for a surrogate mother.

"It was a big decision," Leon de Vreede said.

"We basically knew from the beginning that if we wanted to find the right match for us this is something we would have to do ."
He and his wife, Cate, already have a 23-month-old son, Dylan, but both want another child.

Both grew up with siblings and want their son to have the same experience. However, Cate is unable to carry another baby so they decided to look at their options.

They investigated both domestic and international adoption and while they are open to domestic adoption, it can take years.

After much thought and research, they decided to try surrogacy, and they're hoping to find someone to carry their embryo.

"It's about a good match. It's about a good fit and knowing that we can trust that person and that they can trust us," Cate said.

The couple isn't entering into this lightly. They have done their research, talked to surrogate consultants, lawyers, health professionals and others, saying they want to do everything ethically and legally.

"The last thing that we would want is for anybody to walk away from this feeling injured for whatever reason so we want to make sure everyone is protected and respected," Leon said.

They also have a list of criteria the surrogate must meet, including age (between 23 and 37), a woman who has given birth to at least one child, who is willing to undergo all the necessary screening and who has a strong network of social and emotional support.
"We want a clean, thoughtful, well-thought out process in which everybody is looked after; in which everybody is protected," Leon said.

"It really comes down to somebody who's really motivated to give this amazing gift and who we feel a good connection with," Cate said.

Paying a surrogate to carry a baby is illegal in Canada, with stiff penalties as high as $500,000 and up to 10 years in jail.

However, surrogates can be reimbursed for pregnancy-related costs, including medical expenses and maternity clothes.

The couple hope to find a surrogate close to home, either in Nova Scotia or the Maritimes. However, they are willing to consider women from across the country, with the exception of Quebec, where the laws are different.

The couple say they are "humbled" by the support they have received from their community and complete strangers.

They have also heard from several women interested in talking about surrogacy.

"We've also been contacted already by a few women who have told us a bit about their story and their motivation and said I'd like to talk to you more....maybe I'm the match," Leon said.

Informed surrogates required for morality

According to welfare economics, a decision is rational as long as the parties involved have all possible information (and the consumer chooses consistently, but for the sake of this argument, we are concerned with complete information).

Most often, a surrogate mother does not have enough information to make a rational decision, as she does not know what it means to be separated from her newborn.

Therefore, her consent cannot be considered valid due to a lack of information. More so, the act of buying and selling human life is rashly unethical and degrading, both to the child and the mother.

Commercial surrogate motherhood, therefore, is both economically and morally incorrect and should not be legal (note: I have specified “commercial”).

Morally speaking, a contract that requires a mother to give away her child is outrageous in itself, but to accept money in exchange is simply degrading to the mother as well as the child. The father is only required to pay the medical expenses of this transaction. The likely expenditure on therapy, after having been separated from her child, falls on the mother.

Let us assume that the father agrees to pay for the therapy. This would at most heal the wounds but not erase the scars. Depression caused by the loss of a child is not something that any form of therapy can completely cure.

Another fundamental issue with commercial surrogate motherhood is that the child is never taken into consideration.

We never consider the impact on the child who has just realized that his parents had bought him off a market. His fear of not being loved will pressure him into expressing the characteristics that his parents had intended to purchase.

Many argue for commercial surrogate motherhood claiming that every citizen has the right to procreate and the freedom of contract.

The truth is that the right to procreate implies “being able to create and sustain a family life with some integrity,” as E.S. Anderson states in “Is Woman’s Labor A Commodity?”

Surrogate motherhood effectively destroys a family before creating another, as it first separates the mother from her newborn child.

Also, there is no integrity in the buying and selling of human life. Thus, legalizing surrogate motherhood would violate the true implication of the right to procreate.

The freedom of contract is “already constrained, notably in preventing the purchase and sale of human beings,” according to Anderson. Therefore, these two rights can’t justify commercial surrogate motherhood.

It is often said that the surrogate woman’s labor is the ‘labor of love.’ It is true that most surrogate mothers aren’t in it for the money. Most (not all) of them are either punishing themselves for not having fulfilled parental responsibilities in the past, or view pregnancy as a way of feeling ‘special’ and ‘appreciated’. In reality, these women are treated as mere objects.

The adopting family is seldom concerned about the surrogate mother’s emotional well-being.

While a prime reason for a woman to consent to commercial surrogate motherhood would be to be able to share the joys of raising a newborn, most adopting families would rather keep her away from the child as, in Anderson’s words, “to them, her presence is a threat to marital unity and a competing object for the child’s affections.”

They mercilessly use her to produce their desired goods and then conveniently discard her, leaving her degraded and miserable.

Commercial surrogate motherhood is often considered the same as ‘morally acceptable’ practices, like adoption and artificial insemination by donor (AID). But are they really the same?

Adoption aims at providing those children with families whose biological parents either “cannot or will not discharge their parental responsibilities,” according to Anderson. There is no profit-motive here.

On the other hand, AID does not uphold the buying and selling of human life. In Anderson’s words: “The semen donor sells only a product of his body, not his child, and does not initiate the act of conception.” Therefore, we can chalk out a clear difference between ‘accepted practices’ (like adoption and AID), and surrogate motherhood.

A common reason why couples would opt for surrogate motherhood over adoption is the shortage of children that are available and also the difficulty of qualifying as adoptive parents. The truth is that there is only a shortage in ‘healthy white children’.

There are plenty of children of other races, including the handicapped children. These are the children that desperately need families. As Anderson rightly said, “We should be wary of the racist and eugenic motivations which make some people rally to the surrogate industry at the expense of children who already exist and need homes.”

One might say that giving the surrogate mother the option to keep her child could solve the above problems. Even if she had the option, it would be useless as her contract would then imply that she is not to love her child, for the only reason why a mother would willingly part with her child would be if she didn’t love it (or if she thought she was incapable of raising it, but that is seldom the case).

As Anderson states: “And what judgment do these norms make of a mother who, out of love for her child, decides that she cannot relinquish it? They blame her for commercial irresponsibility and flighty emotions.”

She is also somewhat pressured into giving her child away as she had given her word and keeping the child would mean breaking a legal promise. This state of confusion wouldn’t allow her to act rationally.

In conclusion it can be said that the introduction of market norms automatically converts children and women to objects of use.

They are no longer considered humans but mere commodities. Thus, commercial surrogate motherhood, according to the “In The Matter Of Baby M” ruling of the Supreme Court of New Jersey on February 3, 1988, “guarantees the separation of a child from its mother…it totally ignores the child…and it does all of this, it accomplishes all its goals, through the use of money.”

Surrogate motherhood should be a mutual agreement to create, and raise human life.

It should not be a service that is offered in exchange for monetary benefit, but out of emotional consent.

Yes, this will probably shrink the supply of surrogate mothers, but then again there is always adoption—those kids deserve a family more than any child who hasn’t been born yet.

Leaders of reproductive medicine

From year to year, diagnosis of infertility has been reaching catastrophic level. It is known that every sixth couple in the world faces with this disease. And this figure has been rising. Reproductive medicine has entered the battle-field, hand to hand with the global problem of childlessness in families. Surrogacy, egg donation, in vitro fertilization (test-tube babies). These are assisted methods for reproductive medicine, which are the only way to solve the problem of infertility.

Basing on moral and ethical principles, not all but just a few European countries propose their fellow citizens such treatment. But there are states as well that have entered the market of providing services of reproductive medicine and actively compete with each other. Therefore, if people can not take advantage of such methods at home, they will go to places where it is legal. Price, quality, guarantee, etc. - each country propose clients different conditions.

For example, in the U.S.A so widespread surrogacy program is legal only in some states and costs about 40 - 60 thousand dollars. The sum is quite impressive but in spite of such price American clinics and agencies do not offer their customers "all inclusive" package of services. It means that meeting at the airport, transfer, legal support, food, accommodation and other additional services are burdensome on clients. In addition there are no guarantees of program’s success and that you will leave America with your child. It can be said that you buy a pig in a poke: it looks like you have paid and agreed all details but will you get the desired result... ? No one knows. Using services of American reproductive medicine you pay only for the brand "Made in America." After all, any European much more trusts America than, for example, a little-known Ukraine, with a hazy quality of medical services. But in practice and according to the statistics just Ukraine is a leader in the field of reproductive medicine.

Ukraine is a country of Eastern Europe and it entered the arena of reproductive medicine recently. But over the last 2 years this country has become a Mecca of surrogacy and egg donation. Internet web sources contain a great number of articles and headlines about how the Ukrainian reproductive medicine clinics help hundreds of elderly foreign couples to become parents. In Ukraine, such procedures as surrogacy are legal. Thousands of European infertile couples visit Ukrainian medical centers as there are a lot of advantages there. Thus, the largest center of reproductive medicine in Ukraine BioTexCom guarantees to all its patients 100 % success of chosen program, package with unlimited number of IVF attempts, and in addition it is the only clinic that provides the «all inclusive» package. It means that patients pay once (surrogacy program costs 29,000 Euro, which is much less than in European clinics) and get everything they need: accommodation, food, legal assistance, medical examinations, interpreter etc. That is why many countries including America send their patients to Ukraine working as intermediary agents because America, for example, has more credibility than Ukraine. But there are also some drawbacks. Due to the influx of clients it can be seen shortage of surrogate mothers and turn to start the program to 2 years.

Aristocratic and severe Great Britain is a different story. Here you will be met as a titled member of society. You will be provided with all the information you need, clearly explained the entire legal process, and so on. But it will be problematic to find woman who will agree to become a surrogate mother. In addition, only non-commercial surrogacy can be conducted in Great Britain. It means that parties can sign the agreement but it will have no legal force. Therefore surrogate mother can change her mind and do not give child, in a word to act not in the interests of the biological parents.

Everything is okay with the contracts’ legality in the Russian Federation. It is one of the few countries where all aspects of surrogacy are clearly set in the law. Considerable numbers of foreigners visit Russia, like its neighbor Ukraine, in order to use services of local surrogate mothers. And it is due to the fact that such programs as surrogate motherhood is not only legal, but detailed set in the law as well. But there is also another side of the coin – it is price. In Russia, such program costs about 40,000 euro and this sum does not include additional medical procedures, clients’ meeting at the airport, accommodation, food, etc. Because of the high cost of surrogacy program even Russians often go to Ukraine to use services of reproductive medicine.

A similar situation of clinics of reproductive medicine can be seen in Israel and Canada. In these states, officially married couple has the right to use services of surrogate mother if due to medical reasons couple is unable to conceive a child naturally. Israeli medicine and its high level are known al over the world. People come here from all over the world to treat various diseases. Technologically advanced and economically developed Canada also has a decent health care system. Like every European country Canada provides qualitative health care at a decent European level. But how much does this quality cost? Choosing Israel or Canada as a surrogacy country you run the risk to turn bankrupt. In addition difficulties can appear during selection of a woman for carrying your child.

India has no problems with the selection of surrogate mothers. The state of South Asia is one of the centers and leaders of surrogate motherhood. Here one can find legislation that permits such programs and very suitable price. High qualification of local doctors has been continuing to lure foreigners to visit Indian medical institutions. But there is an unusual rule in this state – it is a ban to conduct ultrasound diagnostic of pregnant women. This is due to sexual character issue. According to the old tradition boys are considered as a future heirs and breadwinners, while girls are just a burden. That is why for a long time after the ultrasound procedure women made abortions if baby's gender was female. Therefore, in order to prevent selective abortions authorities banned the ultrasound investigation. In the case of surrogacy it is a great risk that the child will born with abnormalities or defects that could be seen and prevented with the help of ultrasound diagnostics. Therefore, in India, you for sure can save a significant amount of money, visit good doctors but at the same time run the risk of a disabled child because of the medical control lack.

As for Greece where surrogacy is also can be seen ultrasonography is permitted there and medicine meets European standards. But it can be a certain difficulties with the organization of the whole process of the surrogacy program. In Greece, there are no specialized, good centers or agencies to provide services of reproductive medicine. And those that can be found there do not provide clients with impeccable organization and clarity of the implementation of all program’s phases. But it is an integral part of positive result achieving, in particular timely execution of all medical procedures, monitoring of the health of surrogate mothers etc.

Nowadays, surrogacy is very popular procedure. Because very often just this method is the last and only chance for infertile couples to achieve happiness of motherhood and fatherhood. In spite of this fact not many European countries favor such a solution of infertility problem. Hot debates still have been gathering around topic of surrogate motherhood. For example, in Spain, the law permits donation of sperm and eggs, monetary reward for donors, but surrogacy does not permitted there although it is not a criminal offense. In this case, south- western state of Europe decided to enter the market of reproductive health as a mediator. Spanish doctors work well and perform procedures that are permitted in their country but in case of need surrogacy program Spanish doctors refer patients to Russia or Ukraine where surrogacy is legal. Thus paying 5-6 thousand euro more at home with peace of mind Spaniards go to the eastern states and lawfully conduct program they need. And Spanish doctor - mediator acts as a guarantee and peace of mind of those who fly to a foreign country to receive medical services.

As it was mentioned above, European clinics do not provide their clients with a full range of services and therefore patients have to spend additional funds. And in total taking into account program’s cost fabulous sum can be seen. In Macau, city of China, Chinese successfully perform surrogacy programs that are not so expensive there. But the cost of living in this town is very high. Due to the fact that Macau is a major financial center, famous for its casinos (here there are about 33 of such), gambling houses, racecourse and night clubs, accommodation, food and other necessary services for foreigner are very expensive. You will not even notice how your bank account will make a hole in this wonderful city and you will spend more money to stay in it, rather for needed health care services.

The main difficulty of surrogacy program in many countries is a legal side when you need to receive necessary documents for a child who was born with the help of surrogate mother and get a permission to leave the foreign country. In Argentina and Brazil this program’s phase is added with one more condition, namely it should be any kinship between biological parents and surrogate mother. And of course, this fact must be proven by documents (that is, to have legal force). If you try to work around this aspect in any way or falsify a document in future you will have serious problems with birth certificate registration and leaving the country.

Surrogacy has become extremely important and frequently used procedure in the whole world. Since infertility has been recognized as a plague of the 21st century and speed of its development does not ease down. As it can be seen there are enough countries and offers, each of them has both advantages and disadvantages. A customer is only to choose which of them he agrees and which ones are firmly rejected by him. And always remember a eloquent expression of the poet and philosopher Omar Khayyam who said: “...To live a life wisely, you need to know much,
for a start, remember the two important rules: you'd better stay hungry than to eat no matter what, and better stay single, than with no matter who”.

Is it needed to thank surrogate mother in addition to the fixed sum?

Surrogate mothers are women who perform exploits worthy of respect and admiration. Making a commitment to carry a child for strangers surrogate mothers do infertile families a solid and at the same time risk own health. Couples who for years cannot get pregnant in a natural way discover that their surrogate mother is pregnant. At such a moment they are slaphappy and try to realize that they will finally become parents. In this situation, surrogate mother, of course, takes the "Holy Face" and parents are willing to shower caresses upon her, present gifts and provide necessary assistance.

There's little harm in doing so, but, unfortunately, there are some women who can exploit this kindness. Such unscrupulous surrogate mothers may demand additional money, coming up with plaintive stories, expensive gifts, and sometimes even contribute to their outfitting in the country where biological parents live (often abroad). And parents, in turn, being apprehensive about unpredictable actions by surrogate mother in relation to their child are led by the nose by her and regularly empty own wallet paying the whims of a surrogate mother.

Does it right-on and correct to refuse to satisfy requirements of woman who bears your child?
If you implement surrogacy program in a specialized clinic all program participants (clinic, biological parents and surrogate mother) will sign the relevant agreements and contracts. These documents stipulate all the rights and obligations of the parties, sums and ways to resolve possible offenses of the planned medical processes. Under the contract, surrogate mother receives a certain sum of money in the form of financial compensation. Each month woman who bears a child for infertile couple receives a fixed amount of money for own expenses. In fact, childless couple pays money for the program and surrogate mother, in turn, receives a fixed sum for her help.

As of additional personal rewards and presents for surrogate mother, it is individual and not necessarily. If parents have the opportunity and wish to thank the woman who gave birth to their baby they present her gifts or give the extra money. But, if you do not consider it necessary it’s normal and your refusal will not be regarded as rudeness and greed. Do not be led by the nose by surrogate mother as you can have such problems in future which even clinic workers will not be able to solve. Always act together with your doctor / program manager. And remember - you pay money for the medical program. In the case of BioTexCom center, this sum includes all services, starting with a meeting at the airport and ending with food and accommodation during the program, in Kiev. BioTexCom! We care about your calm and successful fulfillment of all program phases!
