“The flip side of medal”. Moral and ethical aspects of surrogate motherhood

I think everyone ever read, think or talk about unethical part of surrogate motherhood in relation of surrogate mother. This is why for now we will leave this popular question and propose you to talk about “flip side of medal” – about women rights to bear child for another couple.
“My body is my own business” - One of the fundamental postulates of feminism and democratic society. Women in many countries fight for the right to do abortion, right to wear any clothe which they like without judging and sexual harassment. So why did we decide we have right to choose for surrogate mother, why do we think we are more clever?
Perhaps the roots of this feeling rising from the subconscious, a very deep and disguised relation to the surrogate mother, who are mostly women-residents of poor countries, as less intelligent and educated people for which we are entitled to make a decision. But then all of our tolerance and humanity doesn’t worth anything.
Even so the level of education of women in most poor countries is quite high they still become a surrogate mothers because usually, a teacher or a doctor in those countries does not guarantee a decent income to feed herself - not to mention a child (who have such one because access to surrogate program can only get women who gave a birth).

This is not the only controversial issue of surrogate medicine. The ban on egg freezing people of reproductive age, the prohibition surrogate motherhood and donations - but permission for IVF, and this is not a complete list. And each requires need separate consideration - what we are going to do in future articles

  1. It's not a secret that too various reasons rule the women to become surrogates. In some countries where it's permitted, it might be altruistic only. In others commercial is ok. Yet others allow it partially. Meaning your surrogate has all rights to keep the baby if she changes her mind. and so many other aspects!! I really don't care what leads women to become surrogates. The thing which matters for me is that surrogacy is the blessing for many infertile couples all over the world.

  2. There are many requirements for the IP if you tend to pass surrogacy in Ukraine. In most cases, where the uterus is free of any obvious problems, switching to DE IVF is more likely to bring you success. If your eggs are responsible for the problem - Even transferring them to a surrogate’s uterus will produce the same result. IVF failure in older women is mostly caused due to older eggs which are not viable for pregnancy. The point is to find the best fertility center with professional staff to be treated at. Only there you'll be advised the best on your further treatment steps. Age of the woman, the health of uterus, and the ways her body responds to IVF medications also play a great role in IVF success. Normally, a woman’s ovary will release one egg a month - From a collection that is fixed at birth. It is known to decline sharply after the mid 30s. Before an IVF cycle, medications are given to get the ovaries to produce more eggs. If you already have a reduced number of eggs or have elevated FSH levels, your body might not respond properly to IVF medications, which is not a good sign. The sperm and eggs both have specific receptors on their surface that allow for their interaction. However, barring chromosomal factors, sperm are usually not the among the reasons for failure of IVF. Because any quantitative or qualitative problems with the sperm are easily detected during semen analysis. In this case the patients are given the option of ICSI or IVF with donor sperm. The rate of chromosomal abnormalities in human embryos is one of the major factors for IVF failure though. Various studies have shown that the rate of chromosomal abnormalities in human eggs start to increase after the mid 30s.
Surrogacy might solve a lot of problems of the infertile couple. If a woman faces multiple IVF failures using the top quality embryos, then she becomes the candidate for surrogacy. Or if she faces numerous miscarriages, meaning she cannot carry the baby to the term - again the same way out. Surrogacy now is the blessing. It's role cannot be exaggerated.

  3. Oh that's my favourite..There are so many discussions on this point. Quite often the mass media accuses the clinics of exploiting the surrogates. I personally cannot see the point why. The process is regulated in this or that way by law. All sides know their role in this process. Everyone knows his responsibilities. And if the clinic has things under control - it's not bad!! If the clinic wants to make sure its surrogates are safe and leading healthy life - it's not bad! And even if there are some restrictions for the surrogates during some period- that's done only for better! I'm sure. As for the ethical side of the coin, surrogates are the blessing for those women who cannot carry the babies themselves. They help the infertile and are thanked and paid afterall. I know some cases when the IP kept in touch with their surrogates after the delivery and far more longer as it was actually expected..I don't see the reason to blame/judge anyone in this deal!!

  4. Ukraine Is a country with optimally balanced legislation. Relationship to the child is determined by the father of the child. According to the same principle executed documents to the baby. The cost of surrogate motherhood EUR 30k. The price unlike in the US include the risks (including cesarean), food, accommodation, transportation, translator, and so on. The procedure for registration of a child is very simple. For most of the cases, passport for the child is given in Ukraine. In some cases it is necessary to draw up documents in their own country. The queue moves quickly. The average wait time varies from 1 month to six months.
