But a family friend of the star has rubbished the claims, reported in Woman's Day magazine on Monday, telling Daily Mail Australia it's 'ridiculous' and 'nonsense'.
The story claims that Nicole rushed back to Nashville a week after the death of her father Antony in September, because she didn't want to be away from the woman carrying her unborn children. The 47-year-old's four-year-old daughter Faith Margaret was born via an unidentified surrogate mother in 2011.
She and country music star Keith announced her birth several weeks after the fact, explaining they wanted to keep the news to themselves at first.
'I wanted to be able to tell everybody because I was so excited about her,' she told E! News.'[But] we just decided this was our thing together. It kind of just perpetuated itself.
'[And] it protects her and it protects everyone in the situation.'
Nicole's elder daughter Sunday Rose, six, was carried by the actress.
She also has two adult children Isabella and Connor from her previous relationship with Tom Cruise, who they former couple adopted.
The Before I Go To Sleep star recently visited Australia for the premiere of Paddington, in which she plays villain Millicent Clyde.
She walked the red carpet at the opening night, and also hosted a special preview screening for young patients from the Sydney Children's Hospital.
Last week she paid an emotional tribute to her late father on Facebook, on the day he would have celebrated his 76th birthday.
The Oscar-winning actress wrote: 'Happy birthday Papa. I love you more than ever and miss you so much.'
